Today marks the 88th anniversary of the creation of the Argentine National Gendarmerie (GNA), a federal security force established by the National Congress in 1938 with the mission of protecting the borders, safeguarding territorial integrity, and contributing to the maintenance of order and internal security.

Since its creation, the Gendarmerie has played a fundamental role in preventing and combating smuggling, drug trafficking, and other forms of organized crime. It also provides support during emergencies and natural disasters, participating in humanitarian assistance efforts and community cooperation initiatives.

Under Laws No. 24,059 and No. 23,554, the institution is part of the Internal Security System and the National Defense System. It is also part of the Federal Forces under the Ministry of National Security and actively participates in peacekeeping missions and international cooperation.

Eighty-eight years after its creation, the Argentine National Gendarmerie continues to establish itself as an essential institution for the country’s security, distinguished by its professionalism, dedication to service, and unwavering commitment to protecting the Argentine people.
