Every March 25th, our country commemorates the Day of the Unborn Child, a date dedicated to recognizing the value of human life from the moment of conception and promoting its protection. On this occasion, we call for the protection of those who do not yet have a voice, recognizing the inviolable dignity of every human being from the moment of conception and reaffirming the defense of life as the first fundamental right, from which all others derive.
This date was officially established by Decree No. 1406 in 1998, thanks to the initiative of Pope John Paul II. It coincides with the Solemnity of the Annunciation in the Christian liturgical calendar, which commemorates the announcement of Jesus’ birth. This connection influenced the choice of the day, with the aim of highlighting the importance of life from its earliest stages.
The recognition of the Day of the Unborn Child is also linked to principles established in international human rights instruments, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which holds that freedom, justice, and peace are based on the recognition of the inherent worth of every person.
Through this commemoration, Argentina reaffirms its historic commitment to promoting a culture of life, with the certainty that life always triumphs over death.
