Every June 24th we remember Juan Bautista Cabral, the soldier from Corrientes who remained in the history of the Argentine people for his heroic act in the Battle of San Lorenzo, where he gave his life to save the then Colonel José de San Martín. His bravery and sacrifice made him a symbol of patriotism and loyalty.

Born in 1788 in Saladas, Corrientes, Cabral was part of the Regimiento de Granaderos a Caballo and participated in the historic military action of 1813 that marked the baptism of fire of the corps created by San Martín. His figure represents the thousands of anonymous soldiers who, with courage and conviction, forged the first steps of our independence.

More than two centuries after his heroic deed, Cabral's name continues to be synonymous with selfless dedication to the freedom and independence of our country. His example remains alive in history and in every recognition of those who serve the nation with commitment and heroism.
