Foreign tourism in Argentina hits new record

In the first seven months of 2019, more than 4.3 million foreign tourists arrived in Argentina, a 9.4% increase on the same period last year.

In the first seven months of the year, more than 4.3 million foreign tourists arrived in Argentina, according to the latest data from the Tourism Secretariat. The figure is a 9.4% increase on the same period last year, setting a new record for incoming tourism in Argentina.

Of the 4.3 million, 1.8 million tourists arrived by air, a further record for airport arrivals in Argentina, a 19.3% increase from 2018.

According to the International Tourism Survey, prepared by the national statistics agency INDEC, in July only, 607,800 tourists entered the country, a 9.8% increase from July last year. Of these, 261,700 tourists arrived by air, demonstrating considerable increases in arrivals from countries both in the region and further afield, for example, Brazil (24.2%), Uruguay (54.2%) and Paraguay (36.1%), the United States and Canada (12.4%) and Europe (14.1%).
